how do i set up a wi-fi connection for my ps3?
i have a slightly different situation than most. i have verizon dsl and i used to use a belkin wireless router that gave me wi-fi but recently my brother moved in and he’s hearing impaired so he has to use a video phone that uses a sorenson vrs router. so now i have the verizon modem with the sorenson router and no more wi-fi. how can i get wi-fi back for use with my ps3. i can’t even play games online now because of that stupid video phone hook-up. is it possible for me to hook up a wireless router in my room with the ps3 that would work totally separate from the other stuff? please be as detailed as u can with any info cause i’m a total noob when it comes to this stuff. i just want to play ps3 online again.
dude, just use an ethernet cable and plug it into ur router or ur cable modem and then plug it into ur ps3( if ur router or cable modem has multible ethernet ports cuz the ps3 should have an ethernet port on it)
its also depends on how far of a reach it is too…a wired connection is easier

Would putting a larger antenna on my wireless router improve the range?
i have a SWAMR-54108 (if that’s any help). I asked my rather technically able brother in law whether adding a larger antenna would improve my range, but he was unsure, he said it may work, but it may be to do with radio frequencies, and so the length would not determine the range.
Which (if any) is true?
Would putting a larger antenna on my wireless router improve the range?
Some understanding of RADIO is needed here. LARGER is not always BETTER.
Antennas, to work effectively, have to be TUNED to the frequency of intended use. They have to be designed and set to a specific operating frequency in order to work. An antenna with more GAIN, meaning it is more efficent, will indeed increase range! In many cases that will be a larger antenna but not always! In the case of antennas the GAIN of the antenna is more important than its size! The higher the GAIN the better it works.
If you want to use a BETTER antenna, it has to be one designed and tunned for the range of frequencies you need that antenna to cover.
A good place to start learning about antennas is the ARRL Antenna Book.

Bigger does not equate to BETTER when antennas are designed! Bigger may be better but it can also cause MAJOR signal loss unless it is done correctly!

Port Forwarding Qtn?
I have a dlink 502t connected to linksys wrt54gv7.0 to pc by wire.
I wanna port forward. how may i do this?
The port is 51593.
How do I do this Please help me.
portforward.com does not help me for such type of a connection
do i portforward linksys router or dlink router?
I hav been pulling my hair out tryin to find a soln to this qtn
Portforward DOES help you, but the page is buried pretty deeply in an old thread.
Connect to the Linksys. Disable the DHCP server (it’s on the main page). Connect the d-Link to one of the LAN jacks (the numbered ones) on the Linksys. Forward the port in the d-Link. (The Linksys is now acting as a wireless access point, so there’s nothing to forward.)
If you can’t find port forwarding in the d-Link, do it the orther way around – disable DHCP in the d-Link and forward ports in the Linksys (on the Applications & Gaming page).

There should be a link in your router administration for virtual servers.
You will need your IP address provided by the router. To obtain the IP press windows key + r -> type in cmd and hit enter -> a command window opens up now type in ipconfig and hit enter. Now you have your IP address. Input the last digit(s) of your IP where asked in virtual servers along with the port you want to forward. Make an entry for each port for TCP and UDP as needed.
