How far does the average Wireless Gateway DSL/Router work?
I have purchased a Wireless Gateway from At&t so that i can have Internet on my laptop. I was wandering on average how far does the wireless work like can i go outside.
the stated distances are 300 feet inside / 1000 feet outside
What matters is obstructions of dense material (metal doors , bricks , metal pipes etc)
Generally you can get through 3 walls
Placement is important
The router should be high and not cluttered
If the setup allows change the channel from the default channel 6 to anything else of the 12 channels
channels 1 and 11 are first picks
Intererference from neighbours can drift in out of blue. You will get a good signal but no internet
change the channel

I love this laptop! My hard drive capacity and processor notebook content, which cost much more. I had no problems at all. It works well and is very easy to install and start using. Only I’m not crazy, that the keyboard is smaller than most laptops, which have a numeric keypad. numeric keys are smaller, and the comma is the end of the table where it should be …. He is on top. This confuses me, and have a bit ‘of time getting used to. Other than that I am absolutely thrilled! I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Had problems with WiFi
I am going to cut right to the main point. The WiFi on this laptop wouldn’t stay connected. In one hour, it might go out 10 times. I returned the first one I got to Amazon and got a replacement of the same model. I had the exact same problem with both. Didn’t matter if I was three feet from the WiFi router or across the house. Same issue all the time. If it wasn’t for that, I would have kept the laptop. If you don’t need WiFi, this might be be a fine choice, but in my opinion WiFi is crucial in a laptop. That’s why I only gave it a two. This would get a four if not for the issue. Finally returned this and bought an HP – zero problems.
Pros:
I love the look of this laptop.
It has a beautiful LCD
I like the case design
Four USBs and HDMI
Lots of RAM and storage
Cons:
Couldn’t get the laptop to stay connected via WiFi (both units had same problem)
Numpad makes it harder to hit the correct keys

Love it!
I received this computer a week ago. I decided on this one after much research. It comes with the New Intel Core i3 processor and 500GB hard drive as well as 4 GB memory. It has HD display and is equipped with Windows 7. There are 4 USB ports and an HDMI port. The only this I don’t like is that the display (larger or smaller) only has 2 settings. Comparing it to a Dell Studio, it a better price point and has more features/memory. The web cam is also nice. I previously had an HP with a web cam and this one is much better. The multi gesture touch pad is interesting. It does work, but takes time to become adjusted to the techniques. I am really enjoying the computer. It’s pretty fast and it has the memory I need for school/work. I would recommend this computer, but I am not an expert, just a consumer.
